I’ve been working hard these days, putting out lots of energy into lots of hours. Saturday was welcomed with bright sun, strong coffee and lots of birds on the feeder. Despite my desire to sleep in a bit, I woke up at 7 anyway. It was gorgeous outside, I didn’t mind.
Not a cloud in the sky, 75 degrees and a gentle breeze. Saturday’s were meant for nice days. I did all the housework and ran errands, had all my shit finished before noon. I decided to read in the yard and wait for my sister to arrive.
Yay! I love it when my family visits, especially in small numbers. We caught up for a little bit, enjoyed the sunshine then headed out to Osaka for a bit of sushi on the bay. Spicy tuna with jalepeno, salmon with cream cheese and chives, yellow fin and avacado… delish under the watchful eye of Barnegat Light.
I love sushi, it’s so perfect for conversation since there’s no need for a knife and fork. The Not-So-Little bites popped into your mouth are a good excuse to listen while you chew.
We ended up dancing later that night, then laughing about how goofey we were … good times, good times.
Sunday was the perfect rainy day, cool and damp and gray. We all went to a scarey movie, ate buttered popcorn and kit-kats. Back early to open a bottle of red and slow cook some sauce for stuffed peppers. My sister brought a garden of fresh herbs, which we used liberally. Some music, some jokes, the scent of garlic and basil mixed with the sound of the rain on the roof. It was a perfect Sunday.
I love weekends like that. Happy, relaxed, unplanned, where we all just get along. I hope there’s more like that to come.
