Bennies, Beef Stew and Bats, oh my!

Finally, the Bennies have headed back to wherever they come from and left us in South Jersey at peace. The traffic has calmed down, there are no more lines at the Wawa, the beaches are clean. This is just one reason why I love the fall.

It’s only mid-September and it’s been getting cool at night. The blankets have been pulled out of storage, the air conditioner hasn’t been on for a few weeks, and I’m making my first pot of beef stew of the season.

I’ve been working so much that I really didn’t want to do anything this weekend. Cooking is fun. Pour a glass of wine, make some fantastic food and enjoy. Watch a movie, relax. Feel really fat, but realize it was worth it. Fall asleep on the couch. Yeah. Good weekend stuff.

I’m looking forward to another fall treat: I’ll be heading to Salem, Mass. for the weekend before Halloween. Cool, huh? It’s supposed to be a riot, lots of witches and bats and general spookiness. A roadtrip. One I don’t have to drive or pay for gas (or tolls). A chance to see the leaves in New England change color, to enjoy a friend’s company, to do something new. Should be fun.

Mmmm…beef stew calling….nom, nom, nom.
