The Christmas season is upon us, my goodness, that happened so fast. I don’t think I’m ready.
I’ve got just enough money to cover the mortgage, gas and water bills – doesn’t leave anything for a tree or presents or garland or stockings. I knew this would be a challenge, so I’m not surprised. But it would be nice to spend my first Christmas at home with a few reminders of merriment.
There’s talk about having a New Year’s party here. That would be fun. I can’t afford that either, so unless friends are going to pitch in, it’s gonna be a bit lame. But, hey, I like lame.
I realized this week just how dull I can be. I mean that in a good way. I had a friend visiting from out of town, and in the process of trying to think of things to entertain him, I realized – gee, this is kind of a boring place. We’ve got a big old lake – that’s half dried up. But we visited it anyway. We’ve got a huge mall ….ohhhh, a mall! We’ve got an aquarium, which is cool for sure. But that’s only a 2 hour time killer. Other than that? I was in bed by 9 and it was all very humdrum. No raves until dawn, no drinking games or strip poker, no all night chat fests. Just day to day blah.
But that’s life. And frankly, I’ve come to enjoy the day to day. Damn. I’m liking this routine thing. Oh, jeez. It’s official.
I’m getting old.
